IWCA / New World VS Old World
This fall, the bi-annual meeting of the International Wine Club Association was held in South Africa, in Cape Town and in the vineyards of the country. As I have been elected president of the club last April, I was excited to face the wines of the new world right at the heart of their production. I won’t be long: they have nothing to envy to “old world” wines, and have turned into a true identity. Their social and environmental commitment has been highlighted by many inspirations!
The programme included a deep dive into emerging technologies with a focus on voice and community as well as looking at how to make strategic decisions really strategic. We enjoyed a day’s workshop activities and couple of nights in beautiful Stellenbosch before touring for a day in the Devon Valley and Swartland vineyards. We had the chance to meet innovative winemakers and taste the wines of the ‘Old Vine Project‘. The event was be rounded off by a final day’s workshop in a Cape Town Heritage Site followed by a sunset dinner on Camp’s Bay beachfront.
